1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — required to create your account and for password recovery
- Password — securely hashed and stored; we never store plain-text passwords
- Display name — shown to other members in your Bible study groups
- Country and timezone — used to display meeting times correctly
- Denomination (optional) — helps our AI generate more relevant curriculum
- Profile photo (optional) — displayed alongside your name in groups
Group Content
When you use Abide to manage your Bible study group, we store:
- Group information — group names, descriptions, and settings
- Messages and announcements — communications within your group
- Prayer wall posts — prayer requests and updates shared with your group
- Meeting schedules — dates, times, and locations for your gatherings
- Curriculum content — study materials, discussion questions, and notes
- Activity details — potlucks, meal trains, and event RSVPs
- Addresses (optional) — only when provided for activities like meal trains
AI Interactions
When you use Abide's AI features to create schedules, generate curriculum, or manage your group:
- Your text input is sent to our AI service provider to generate responses
- We may log AI requests to improve service quality and troubleshoot issues
- AI-generated content (schedules, curriculum) is stored as part of your group data
Technical Information
We automatically collect standard technical data including device type, operating system, app version, and general usage patterns to maintain and improve the service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the service — enable you to create and manage Bible study groups, send messages, share prayer requests, and coordinate activities
- Generate AI content — create meeting schedules, study curriculum, and announcements based on your input
- Send notifications — alert you to new messages, prayer requests, meeting reminders, and group updates (based on your preferences)
- Deliver invitations — send email invitations when you invite new members to your group
- Maintain security — protect your account and prevent unauthorized access
- Improve the service — understand how Abide is used so we can make it better
3. How We Share Your Information
With Your Group Members
Within your Bible study group, other members can see your display name, profile photo, messages, prayer requests, and activity participation. Leaders can also see member email addresses for group management.
With Service Providers
We work with trusted third parties to provide Abide:
- Cloud Infrastructure Providers — host our database, handle authentication, and run server functions
- AI Service Providers — provide language model capabilities for schedule and curriculum generation
- Resend — delivers invitation emails to new members
- Expo — provides app update infrastructure
These providers only access your data as needed to perform their services and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Period.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices:
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS
- Passwords are hashed using strong cryptographic algorithms
- Authentication sessions are stored securely (iOS Keychain, Android EncryptedSharedPreferences)
- Database access is protected by row-level security policies
- API keys and secrets are stored in secure, isolated environments
Our primary infrastructure is hosted in the United States through secure cloud providers.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have control over your data:
- Access — you can view all your personal data in the app's Settings
- Update — you can edit your profile information at any time
- Delete — you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us
- Export — you can request a copy of your data in a portable format

- Leave groups — you can leave any group at any time; your messages remain visible to other members unless you request deletion

6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services:
- Account data is kept until you delete your account
- Group content is kept until the group is deleted or you leave the group
- Messages and prayer requests are kept as part of group history
- When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days (some anonymized data may be retained for analytics)
7. Children's Privacy
Abide is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@koodalai.com and we will promptly delete it.
8. International Users
If you're accessing Abide from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using Abide, you consent to this transfer. We comply with applicable data protection laws and provide the same protections to all users regardless of location.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of Abide after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
